Myrtle Beach Police Warn of Phone Scam Threats

Staff Report / MBlocal.org

The Myrtle Beach Police Department has issued a warning about phone scams affecting community members. Authorities reported that scammers are pretending to be current, former, or retired police staff, and are demanding payments related to legal issues or warrants.

The police department emphasized that they will never call individuals to request payment. Residents who receive such calls or suspect they are being targeted by scams are encouraged to report the incidents immediately. They can do so by contacting the MBPD's non-emergency line at 843-918-1382 or reaching out to their local police department.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department highlighted the importance of public safety and the role of community cooperation in preventing scams.
