Myrtle Beach Hosts Youth Track Clinic with Olympic Star
Staff Report / MBlocal.org
Myrtle Beach is hosting its first of two Youth Track and Field Development Clinics. The clinic on September 21 will focus on sprints and hurdles. It will feature experienced coaches and a special appearance by Paris Olympic Champion, Melissa Jefferson. The clinic will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium and is open to ages seven to 18.
Participants will be grouped by age and experience level and rotate through different event-specific areas for instruction. The cost is $15 for one clinic or $25 for both. Participants are required to register and should bring a personal water bottle, sunscreen, athletic apparel, closed-toe running shoes, and event-specific shoes or spikes.
A photo opportunity with Melissa Jefferson will be available from 12:00-12:30 p.m. All experience levels are welcome to join. The second session on field events will be held on October 19. For more information or to register, contact Jeff Jacobs at 843-918-2256 or jjacobs@cityofmyrtlebeach.com.
