The City of Myrtle Beach held two significant events to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The Myrtle Beach Fire Department organized its annual 9/11 Stair Climb at the Yachtsman Resort, where dozens of firefighters participated to honor the 343 firefighters of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) who lost their lives during the attacks.

At the same time, a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony took place at the Unity Memorial in Warbird Park, attended by hundreds of community members. The ceremony featured personal accounts from Dan Tompkins, a retired FDNY member, and Karen Mulcahy Normile, a retired NYPD officer, who shared their experiences on that tragic day.

The city acknowledges the importance of remembering those who sacrificed their lives and expresses gratitude to everyone who participated in the events.
