An incident involving a vehicle from the Myrtle Beach Fire Department occurred on Saturday, September 14, at 5:46 a.m. An MBFD emergency vehicle was responding to a structure fire when it collided with another car while traveling north on S Kings Highway.

The individual in the other vehicle received emergency medical care from MBFD personnel but did not survive and later died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. The two firefighters in the MBFD vehicle were not injured in the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation into the incident. The Myrtle Beach Fire Department has expressed condolences to all those affected by the event.
