University Maintains Operations Amid Hurricane Helene Threat
Staff Report / MBlocal.org
Coastal Carolina University is currently monitoring Hurricane Helene as it approaches the region. According to a statement from the university's Emergency Management Team, there are no expected changes to the university's operations at this time. However, the area is forecasted to experience rain and gusty winds from tonight through Friday, with an increased risk of tornadoes. The National Weather Service may issue a Tornado Watch or Warning for the area.
The university’s Emergency Management Executive Group will work with Horry County Government to assess the situation and determine any necessary adjustments to campus operations. Updates will be communicated to the campus community as the situation develops. Additionally, the Governor of South Carolina has instructed that state government offices and employees adhere to the weather hazard decisions made by local county officials during storms.
