Myrtle Beach Plans Vietnam War Memorial Design
Staff Report / MBlocal.org
The city of Myrtle Beach is moving forward with the design process for a Vietnam War Memorial. The next steps in the project include public engagement, veteran engagement, and developing a conceptual design.
The design process is anticipated to take 8 to 10 months, followed by a construction period of 6 to 8 months. A dedication ceremony is being planned and could take place on several significant dates: March 29 (National Vietnam War Veterans Day), May 26 (Memorial Day), November 11 (Veterans Day), or other relevant dates related to the Vietnam War.
Public input meetings are scheduled to gather feedback from both the community and Vietnam War veterans. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Classroom B at the General Robert H. Reed Recreation Center, located at 800 Gabreski Lane. The second meeting is set for Wednesday, November 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., also in Classroom B at the same location.
